Policies
We have provided a brief outline here of some of our policies. A comprehensive policy file is available at the centre. Parents are welcome to view this at anytime.
1. PHILOSOPHY
The Management, Educators, Staff and families of Jack & Jill Early Learning Centre are committed to providing the highest standard of quality care for the children attending our centre. We incorporate our vision of *Play, Explore, Engage and the Early Years Learning Framework vision of Belonging, Being and Becoming.
2. Outcomes
Through our Philosophy we expect the following outcomes for the children we educate and care for at Jack and Jill Early Learning Centre.
Emergency Procedures
A fully detailed evacuation plan is displayed at various exit points around the service. We practice emergency evacuation with children on a quarterly basis.
45. ACCIDENT, INCIDENT & SICKNESS POLICY
The welfare of all children and educators at Jack & Jill Early Learning Centre is of the highest priority and this policy aims to ensure that this standard of care is maintained.
1. Children are not permitted to attend the centre with a contagious infection (refer to recommended minimum exclusion periods for infectious conditions for schools, pre-schools and child care centres) Examples of contagious infections where children should not attend care at the centre are:
3. A record of all incident, injury or trauma is kept until the child is 25 years of age.
4. Even with extreme care and sound first aid practices, circumstances may still require that a child receive medical attention. If an emergency situation occurs, an ambulance will be called (at Parents expense). Parents will be contacted immediately. A serious incident report will be made through the NQA ITS http://acecqa.gov.au/national-quality-agenda-it-system/ within 24 hours on operating days.
5. The centre management reserves the right to refuse care to a child they deem is infectious or too sick to be at the centre. Parents are responsible for the child’s normal fees during any absence due to illness.
6. In the event of a death of a child at the centre, a record of the events is to be written and appropriate authorities contacted. (ie; Education and Care Regulatory unit and report completed on NQA ITS) This record must be kept until the end of the 7th year from the date of the death.
NON-IMMUNISED CHILD POLICY:
Jack and Jill Early Learning Centre will not accept or continue the enrolment of a child who has not been immunised according to the National Immunisation Schedule (immunise.health.gov.au). If a child has begun an immunisation catch up schedule as identified by the child’s health care professional, then a medical clearance must be provided before the child can commence.

- We aim to provide a secure, caring and stimulating environment in which relationships can evolve and each Childs’ identity and sense of self is valued.
- We facilitate learning and development through play, both child and adult initiated, as a natural way for children and babies to develop and master skills in the outdoor and indoor environments.
- We understand the importance of mental health and wellbeing of children and will endeavour to reduce the daily stress on a child by providing predictable routines and familiar educators, and by offering children time and flexibility to observe others, and experience the joys of both active and quiet play.
- We aspire to provide quality, inclusive education and care that is sensitive to each child as a unique individual with diverse heritage, culture, family background, knowledge, abilities, skills and needs.
- We respect the contribution play makes to child development and provide a program of planned play-based learning that is responsive to children’s interests, and offers a balance of challenges and opportunities for success.
- We intend for all to work together to create an environment where individual educator and team potential can be optimally and regularly developed for the benefit of the children, parents and community.
- We promote parent and community involvement to extend acceptance and awareness of the importance of Early childhood education and care, both internally and within the wider community.
